Tasting Notes

A beautiful ruby red color, full and intense, captures the eye. Vibrant nose, rich in fruity notes that then turn towards tobacco and wet earth. It enters the mouth with a rich, medium-bodied sip tending to full, vertical and direct, thanks to finely crafted tannins.

Napa Valley "Rubicon" 2020 - Inglenook: Why we like it

Since its inaugural vintage in 1978, the "Rubicon" has been the most important red wine of the Inglenook winery in Napa Valley, reflecting the soul of the property and expressing Francis Coppola's desire to create a great Bordeaux-style wine, that is, "a wine that can please contemporary taste, but with a historical aspect [that defines] our vineyards at their zenith". The Napa Valley “Rubicon” was named after the small river crossed by Julius Caesar in 49 B.C., declaring his intention to gain control of Rome. Over time the phrase "crossing the Rubicon" has come to signify any irreversible action with revolutionary intent or the outcome of which holds great risk. A more than apt name for Inglenook's “Rubicon”, which continues to be a living testimony to the finely calibrated result of a truly well-taken risk. To try at least once in a lifetime.
