VikeVike

VikeVike was founded by the passionate young winemaker Simone Sedilesu, near Nuoro, Sardinia. He basically grew up among rows of vines, while helping his grandfather, from an early age, and then learned the art of winemaking from his father. Simone is strongly rooted in his native territory, and so it is his production; he is convinced that wine is born first of all in the vineyard, and that in the cellar you should only guide it.
After graduating in oenology, Simone had various experiences abroad, but eventually he made the decision to create his own winery. The territory of Mamoiada boasts a well-rooted winemaking tradition; the vineyards are at an average altitude of 736 meters above sea level and grow on soils of a granite nature. The most cultivated variety is cannonau, but thanks to new plantations, granazza, an ancient native white grape variety, is also being rediscovered and promoted. Simone currently works 2.5 hectares of vines, which are in the middle of organic conversion and his production is concentrated on Cannonau, also in Riserva version, on Moscato, on a rosé, and on a 100% Granazza white.
Until recently, granazza was used only as a blending grape for the Cannonau and therefore it’s a variety scarcely present; Simone, however, vinifies it in monovarietal, obtaining a lively, energic wine, very pleasant to drink. All Simone's wines are the result of spontaneous fermentation and contain only a small amount of sulfites.
Simone, with his VikeVike, is also a member of the Mamojà association; this has about 70 members, including producers and winemakers from Mamoiada, who aim to promote and protect the territory through a shared socio-economic wine model.
