Château La Conseillante

Located in France, in the wine region of Bordeaux, Château La Conseillante is included in the list of the oldest wine-growing properties of the Pomerol appellation. Dating back to the mid-18th century, at the time the estate was managed by Madame Catherine Conseillan, who bequeathed her name to the company. Belonging to the Nicolas family since 1871, today it’s the fifth family generation to firmly hold the reins of the company.
Château La Conseillante can now count on about 20 hectares of vineyards in total, with labels reaching the highest possible quality standards, with meticulousness and rigor.
In the vineyard, the philosophy follows a scrupulous and attentive method, with the utmost respect for nature, the ecosystem and the environment. The main purpose is always to harvest grapes that are rich, healthy and concentrated in every smallest organoleptic peculiarity.
The company’s vines are grouped in a single plot - something extremely unusual in the Pomerol appellation, where properties are very "fragmented" - , and the vines are planted at a density such as to reach 6 thousand plants per hectare, even if the increase of the same density is foreseen, so as to cover the 7,500 vines. Aged on average 35 years, the plants grow on soils composed by clay, gravel and sand. Being able to take advantage of an efficient and state-of-the-art cellar, after scrupulous selections, only pure and perfectly ripe bunches arrive from the rows, so that the interventions during the vinification phase are reduced to a minimum. The subsequent aging phase lasts an average of 18 months and takes place in French oak barriques, partly new and partly second passage.
This way, each vintage produced at Château La Conseillante gives wines characterized by a beautiful ruby, deep and brilliant, flanked by an aromatic and complex nose, and a palate that is remarkably harmonious, fine and elegant.
