Alberto Oggero

Alberto Oggero is a rising star, strongly rooted in the Piedmontese Roero area. The estate stands in that portion of land located on the left bank of the Tanaro river, between the plain of Carmagnola and the low hills of the Asti area. As in many other areas of Piedmont, viticulture here has a thousand-year history: viticulture production developed, in fact, well before the arrival of the Romans, since the presence of the Ligurians, and extended with ever greater intensity reaching today’s proportions. What is striking about the Roero, and which has always captivated Alberto's soul, is the remarkable variety of landscapes, in which you can find, alongside the vineyards, also numerous areas covered by woods and orchards.
Alberto decided to plant a new vineyard from scratch, creating his own cellar starting from an inflexible philosophy: the wines should be as territorial as possible. From here, thanks to the help of his family and collaborators, Alberto started working, devoting himself to the typical vines of the area, Arneis and Nebbiolo, free to express themselves according to the parcel of origin. The total number of hectares of vineyard is currently just over 4 hectares, for a total production that leads to about 16,000 bottles per harvest. The approach is "natural" both in the vineyard, where the entire cycle of the vine is supported without forcing, and in the cellar, where fermentations are strictly spontaneous and production is followed with rigorous attention to all details. The hard work carried out by Alberto today leads to a range of five labels produced, from "Valle dei Lunghi" to "Sandro d’Pindeta", passing through a truly noteworthy Rosso Riserva.
A range that amazes for the ability of Arneis to evolve over the years, while Nebbiolo is immediately "approachable", thus overturning the most common assumption on both grape varieties and proving Alberto’s ability to amaze.
