Heroic viticulture at the foot of the giants

The Aosta Valley is one of Italy's most extreme and fascinating wine-growing areas, where vineyards climb steep slopes up to an altitude of 1,200 meters, in the shadow of majestic giants such as Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and Monte Rosa. This mountain viticulture, defined as “heroic” due to the difficult growing conditions, produces wines of extraordinary personality, characterized by freshness, minerality, and an unmistakable territorial imprint, a faithful reflection of the alpine microclimate and morainic soils.

A mosaic of native grape varieties

The ampelographic heritage of the Aosta Valley is a treasure trove of biodiversity with over twenty extremely rare native grape varieties that survive only in this small region. Petit Rouge dominates the scene, the protagonist of Torrette and Fumin, while Picotendro (a local clone of Nebbiolo) produces wines of surprising finesse. Among the whites, Prié Blanc—grown ungrafted—is the highest white grape in Europe, flanked by gems such as Petite Arvine, with its distinctive flavor, and Moscato Bianco, which finds unique expression here in the legendary Chambave Muscat.
