UMBRIA

The green heart of Italy in a bottle

Umbria, a wine treasure trove nestled in the center of the peninsula, is a unique region where tradition and innovation blend in a landscape of rolling hills, ancient villages, and generous lands. Far from the clamor of the more celebrated wine regions, over the years this land has built a prestigious wine identity based on native grape varieties of extraordinary character and a deep connection with the territory.

Sagrantino and Sangiovese: the red soul of Umbria

Sagrantino di Montefalco is undoubtedly the prince of Umbrian wines, a native grape variety that produces reds with impressive structure, tannic richness, and extraordinary longevity. Its notes of wild blackberry, spices, and leather represent the most powerful expression of regional winemaking. Alongside it, Sangiovese finds interpretations of great character in Umbria, especially in Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG, where it shows an elegant and refined profile, an expression of a territory dedicated to quality.

The leading wineries in the Tannico selection

Our Umbrian selection boasts leading producers: Arnaldo Caprai, a pioneer in promoting Sagrantino and ambassador for Montefalco around the world; Lungarotti, a historic winery that has made Torgiano famous with wines of extraordinary elegance. There is no shortage of labels from Antonelli, with its highly refined organic production, and Tabarrini with its Sagrantino crus. For whites, the interpretations of Grechetto by Palazzone and Decugnano dei Barbi stand out, while Paolo Bea represents the most natural and traditional soul of Umbrian winemaking. The picture is completed by the wines of Castello della Sala (Antinori), an absolute reference point for Orvieto and fine whites.
