PORTUGAL

A mosaic of regions and traditions

Portugal's wine industry is a real treasure that is still partly undiscovered, a country where the Atlantic influence, diverse soils, and unique varietal heritage create wines of extraordinary character. From the famous Port of the Douro Valley, with its steep schist terraces, to the fresh green wines of Minho, to the powerful reds of Alentejo and the volcanic expressions of the Azores, each region tells a different story. This variety is made even more fascinating by an often ancestral viticulture, where centuries-old vineyards and traditional techniques such as amphora vinification coexist with modern approaches, creating an unmistakable style that combines depth, Atlantic freshness, and territorial identity.

The richest varietal heritage in Europe

The true wealth of Portuguese winemaking lies in its extraordinary heritage of native grape varieties, with over 250 indigenous varieties. Among the reds, we find the structured Touriga Nacional, the deep Touriga Franca, the elegant Baga, and the rustic Trincadeira, while among the whites, the aromatic Alvarinho, the mineral Arinto, the complex Encruzado, and the lively Loureiro stand out. This diversity is best expressed in traditional field blends, mixed vineyards where dozens of varieties are grown together and vinified as a blend, creating wines of extraordinary complexity. This biodiversity represents not only a cultural heritage but also a strategic resource in adapting to climate change.

Between centuries-old tradition and qualitative rebirth

Our selection celebrates both historic houses such as Niepoort, which revolutionized the concept of Port and still wines from the Douro, and producers maestro of the Baga variety in the Bairrada region, who have led the qualitative renaissance. These producers share a deep respect for Portuguese tradition, while embracing modern techniques that enhance the precision and purity of the fruit. The result is wines that express a perfect balance between historical heritage and contemporary vision, offering a unique and fascinating experience of discovery.
