PIEDMONT

The homeland of great Italian red wines

Piedmont is one of Italy's most prestigious wine regions, with an extraordinarily rich wine heritage. This land of noble traditions has managed to combine respect for history with innovation, giving rise to wines of absolute excellence. The hills of the Langhe, Monferrato and Roero, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, constitute a unique landscape where viticulture is expressed at the highest levels.

Nebbiolo: the king of Piedmontese grape varieties

Nebbiolo, the aristocratic grape variety par excellence, finds its highest expression in Barolo and Barbaresco, wines of extraordinary longevity and complexity. These “king and queen” of Italian wines fascinate with their structure, elegant tannins, and a bouquet that evolves from fresh fruit to balsamic notes, truffles, and undergrowth. Alongside these DOCG wines, Nebbiolo also expresses itself magnificently in Roero and in the appellations of Upper Piedmont.

A mosaic of native grape varieties

Piedmont boasts an impressive viticultural biodiversity. Barbera, with its fruity character and lively acidity, Dolcetto with its gentle tannins and almond notes, and Freisa with its spicy profile represent the everyday soul of regional winemaking. Among the whites, the aromatic Moscato, the basis of Asti Spumante and Moscato d'Asti, the elegant Arneis, and the mineral Cortese di Gavi stand out. There is no shortage of rarities such as Grignolino, Ruchè, and Pelaverga, guardians of a tradition that continues to fascinate enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
