Tasting Notes

In the glass, it has a beautiful ruby colour, with light purple reflections. The nose is largely composed by plums, cherries, and other red fruits, which slowly reveal more spicy scents. The mouth is elegant, round, with a fresh straight line that makes the sip smooth. It closes with a long finish.

Pairings

Its structuremakes it very interesting with game and with barbecued red meats. It does its best with stewed tripe.

“Ad Astra” is the second of the wines produced by Nittardi in Maremma: it’s a blend where sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah and other red berried grapes coexist in harmony, creating a Toscana IGT with personality, and with an enveloping and fulfilling mouthfeel. The grapes ferment in steel tanks, and then age for 9 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux. A Red made by the book, excellent interpretation of the typical blends of the Maremma terroir: it’s a must try.
