Pairings

Il Lessona di Tenute Sella si sposa meravigliosamente con taglieri di salumi o formaggi. Ottimo anche con le carni.

Brand

Tenute Sella is a renowned winery in northern Piedmont whose history dates back to the 17th century.

It was 1671 when Comino Sella purchased his first vineyard in Lessona—already a highly prized area for the production of fine red wines—with the intention of diversifying his investments, which at the time were mainly in the textile industry. At the end of the 19th century, the family decided to expand the estate, buying vineyards in the Bramaterra area and becoming actively involved in the process of obtaining the Lessona and Bramaterra DOC designations, which were established in the 1970s.

Today, Tenute Sella is a benchmark for both areas, producing high-quality wines that are true flagships of the region.

With almost 20 hectares of vineyards, the vines are cultivated using conventional methods that are also highly respectful of the environment, nature, and the ecosystem.

In soils characterized by a high presence of sand and minerals, capable of draining water very well, the roots of the plants push deep into the ground in search of moisture, and the Nebbiolo vines in particular, but also those of Vespolina, Croatina, and Erbaluce, typical of the Biella area, produce grapes that are pure, prized, concentrated, and rich. In the cellar, the grapes are interpreted and enhanced, bringing out all the nuances that the season and the territory have been able to express in the fruit. Following a winemaking style closely linked to classic methods and local traditions, wines are created that are natural and unforced.

The most modern technologies are used only to highlight the unique characteristics of the terroir. The result of all this is wines such as “Omaggio a Quintino Sella,” “San Sebastiano allo Zoppo,” “I Porfidi,” “Casteltorto,” “Orbello,” “Majoli,” “Doranda,” “Piandoro,” and “Clementina.” Labels that, starting with Nebbiolo and continuing with all the others, express refinement, elegance, and delicacy, together with all the typical characteristics of the Bramaterra and Lessona areas.
