Lagrein Wine | Alto Adige's Dark Ruby Gem

Alpine Intensity

From the sun-drenched valleys of Alto Adige comes Lagrein, a variety that perfectly embodies the region's unique character. This ancient variety, native to the area around Bolzano, produces wines of remarkable depth and distinctive Alpine personality.

The terroir is crucial: well-drained alluvial soils, protected valleys, and the dramatic temperature variations of the Alps create ideal conditions for Lagrein to develop its full character. Here, traditional expertise meets modern precision viticulture.

Modern Lagrein expressions showcase its natural intensity with elegance. These wines typically display deep purple-ruby colors and complex aromas of black fruits, violets, and dark chocolate, often complemented by subtle spice notes and a characteristic mineral undertone. The structure is impressive yet refined, with well-integrated tannins and refreshing acidity.

For wine enthusiasts seeking distinctive alternatives to international varieties, Lagrein offers a truly unique experience, combining the power of warm-climate reds with the freshness and precision typical of Alpine wines.
