CLOS DE TART

Clos de Tart, a historic site, was sold by the Maison Dieu in Brochon to the nuns of Notre Dame de Tart back in 1141. It remained in their possession until the French Revolution, then passed through the hands of several owners until it came to the Mommessin family in 1932, who, after only seven years, saw it elevated to Grand Cru status and still own it today. The chalky-clay soil and perfect exposure contribute to the greatness of each vintage. Initially, the wine was vinified using a technique known as “il cappello sommerso” (submerged cap), which allowed for perfect extraction of aromas, but at the expense of colour. However, in 1970, the winery began its technological revolution (which also includes its arrival in our online wine shop), leading to temperature-controlled maceration and a biodynamic approach both in the vineyard and in the cellar, resulting in some of the best Pinot Noir wines in Burgundy.
