Rémi Jobard

Rémi Jobard is one of the best known winemakers in the municipality of Meursault; great producer of whites, his wines undoubtedly showcase great personality.
The winery is based near Château de Meursault, and with 9 hectares of vineyards Rémi produces about 50,000 bottles per year. Since 1991, when Rémi started its business, the production has been increasingly consolidated, thanks to the achievement of the organic certification and, also, thanks to a series of 1er Cru labels of the highest level, outstanding for their unparalleled concentration. The owned vineyards are top-notch and grow between Poruzots-Dessus, Charmes-Dessus, Genevrières and Santenots; all operations in the vineyard and in the cellar are based on simplicity and common sense, with the aim of expressing the individual peculiarities of the different terroirs in the best possible way. Rémi is a straightforward and concrete person; he relentlessly carried out his unconventional ideas - he was in fact a forerunner of the use of truncated cone-shaped Austrian wooden barrels of the Stockinger mills - he never stopped working in defense of the soil and the vines.
Every cuvée spends 1 year in barrels, about 25% new, and 6 months in tanks. All Rémi wines are very refined, with an impeccable aromatic definition, rich and vibrant, without, however, too many frills. The Meursault 1er Cru "Les Genevrières", for example, with its hints of ripe fruit and fine notes of hawthorn, is clearly a master of harmony. Complex and, at the same time, graceful, it is a white wine that, in the years to come, will certainly not cease to amaze.
