CHENIN BLANC

The White Diamond with a Thousand Facets

An aristocratic grape variety of extraordinary versatility, Chenin Blanc expresses with rare precision every nuance of the terroir in which it grows. The Tannico collection explores this fascinating wine universe from its purest expressions in the Loire Valley to South African masterpieces, offering a range that spans from vibrant dry wines to sweet nectars of rare complexity, including sparkling wines of character, all united by brilliant acidity and extraordinary aging potential.

From the Loire to the Cape: Two Worlds, One Soul

In the Loire Valley, its historic homeland, Chenin reaches its peak in the appellations of Vouvray, Savennières, and Anjou, where schist and tuffeau limestone soils impart unique minerality and tension. In South Africa, where it is also known as “Steen,” it represents the national wine heritage with interpretations ranging from fresh and fruity wines to versions of extraordinary complexity, often from century-old vines that combine power and finesse in perfect balance.

The Art of Expression: From Dryness to Sweetness

The Tannico selection celebrates the many souls of Chenin: from sec wines characterized by notes of green apple, pear, and white flowers with a mineral finish, to demi-sec wines with hints of ripe fruit and honey, to the legendary moelleux and liquoreux wines with extraordinary concentrations, where notes of dried apricot, saffron, and flint emerge. There is no shortage of excellent méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines, where the natural acidity of the grape variety creates structures of rare elegance and persistence.

The Great Masters of Chenin: Tradition and Rediscovery

From the almost mystical wines of Nicolas Joly in Savennières to the precise interpretations of Huet in Vouvray, from the rare bottles of Clos Naudin to the innovative visions of Mullineux in South Africa: our selection brings together producers who have made the history of this grape variety. A particular focus is dedicated to the pioneers of biodynamics and producers who are rediscovering old abandoned vineyards, contributing to the qualitative rebirth of one of the most noble and underrated grape varieties on the world wine scene.
