Laurent-Perrier
To discover the origins of the Maison Laurent-Perrier we must go back to 1812, the year in which the winery was founded by André and Michel Pierlot. Located in Tours-sur-Marne, in Champagne-Ardenne, it was in 1881 that the fortunes of the company were written. Eugene Laurent, cellarman of the Pierlot, decided together with his wife Mathilde Emilie Perrier to take over the maison and to assume the leadership, later on changing the name of the estate to Laurent-Perrier.
From here, among various vicissitudes, the story leads to Mary-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt before her, and then to her son Bernard, who represents the true soul of the champagnes that can be tasted today. Characterized by the use of mainly chardonnay and pinot noir grapes - with the exception of the Cuvée Rosé, obtained exclusively from pinot noir grapes - all Laurent-Perrier Champagne rests at least four years in their cave before being released on the market.
Currently led by Bernard's daughters, Alexandra and Stephanie Lanson de Nonancourt, the Maison now owns 150 hectares of vineyards. A special and unique style is associated with it, certainly also due to the thorough pursuit of perfection in all production steps, from the vineyard to the bottle. Among the rows, the approach is minimalist, so they tend to cultivate plants with maximum respect for the environment, nature, and the ecosystem. In the cellar, the philosophy is no different: by vinifying each single plot of land separately, the maison Laurent-Perrier has been working the grapes in steel and at a controlled temperature since the 1950s, in order to keep the freshness and aromatic complexity of the fruit intact and unaltered. Finally, during the prise de mousse process, each step is controlled with method and rigour, using the most modern oenological technologies, always used without ever surpassing the most ancient territorial traditions.
From Brut to Rosé, from Vintage to "Grand Siècle", up to Demi-Sec and “Ultra Brut”, this is how the Champagnes by Laurent-Perrier are born: timeless bubbles, among the most prestigious that France is currently able to give.
