Domaine Brunely

Domaine Brunely has been kept in the same family for three generations. It’s based in Sarrians, a small town squeezed between the Rhone and the AOC of Ventoux, within a terroir characterized by the presence of clay and limestone. The winery was bought by Rémy Carichon, and at the beginning the property was structured in two parts, a farm and a villa, where, legend has it, that Napoleon III also spent time. Back in the Middle Ages, this area was entirely owned by the Pope of Avignon, until, in the 15th century, it was given to a gentleman of Verona as a sign of recognition for the defense carried out against the papacy. Coming to more recent times, starting from the 90s Charles Carichon, son of Rémy, took upon himself the reins of the Domaine, continuing a significant expansion of the vineyards. Today the property is about 80 hectares, included within important appellations such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Ventoux and Cairanne. In the vineyard, the vines are aged between 30 and 60 years, and each operation is carried out following sustainable agriculture practices, in which the soil and the environment are considered as elements to be preserved through low-impact works. Various varieties typical of the Rhone Valley are grown, such as grenache, syrah, mourvèdre, carignan, cinsault, marsanne and many others. In the cellar, fermentation is allowed to take place spontaneously, and the pressing phase is always done very lightly, so as not to extract the bitterest components of the tannins. The Domaine Brunely produces a range of 8 labels, where reds dominate, with 6 references, joined by a white and a rosé. Each bottle is made in the light of sustainable practices, in which old peasant knowledge alternates with modern winemaking techniques, with the goal of always respecting the terroir of origin and the grape.
