Contadi Castaldi

The Contadi Castaldi winery represents a perfect synthesis of the history of Franciacorta, which with its 19 villages highly suited to exceptional agriculture, already produced excellent wines in the 16th century. In fact, since 1500 – the period of the greatest splendour of the Republic of Venice – wines from Franciacorta were destined for the tables of princes, kings, nobles and wealthy merchants of the Serenissima. Splendid and rich Venice was a thriving market of choice for Franciacorta, a real springboard, through which Franciacorta wines began to be known all over the world. Regarding the name, "Contadi" were the counties of Franciacorta in the Middle Ages, and "castaldi" were the lords of those counties. The winery was born as a spinoff of Bellavista, and currently belongs to the same group to which the mother company belongs: “Terra Moretti”. Contadi Castaldi is located in Adro, near Brescia, and was founded in 1987. It established itself in a few years thanks to their very qualitative sparkling wines. It all started with Satèn, a type that has always been at the centre of the company project, as well as smooth and velvety Franciacorta, after which all the other wines arrived. All their wines stand out for great, intimate, expressive and fragrant personality, which is always characterized by an uncommon organoleptic depth. From Satèn we move on to Brut, Rosé and Dosaggio Zero, up to the “new generation” labels, which include less traditional wines but at the same time intriguing and of sure level. Currently, the production of the Contadi Castaldi winery currently stands at an average of 90 thousand bottles per year, being able to count on a vineyard area of 18 hectares, to which are added another 112 hectares of rented vines: sparkling wines with absolute charm, complexity, structure, character, freshness, balance, and depth.
