Tasting Notes

This intense ruby red wine with hints of purple boasts a mature bouquet with notes of dark fruit and brushwood that give it a fresh finish. Aromas of prune and cherry prevail and then develop in a balanced way to reveal notes of liquorice and mint. Whereas in the mouth it boasts a certain zeal and generosity that is rich yet balanced. This wine’s acidity and smooth tannic structure offer the palate a wonderful treat, leaving a full-bodied, flavourful and persistently sweet aftertaste.

Pairing

The perfect wine to accompany any course of a meal, Antinori’s “Tignanello” wine pairs especially well with rich meat-based dishes including roasts and braised meats featuring cuts of game.

Toscana Rosso “Tignanello” 1990 - Antinori: Why we like it

This legendary red has made Italian wine history books for being the first Sangiovese to have been aged in barriques, the first modern wine to have been produced following an untraditional method, and among the first Chianti reds to not feature white grapes in its production. It is a landmark wine that year after year continues to amaze wine lovers from all four corners of the globe. Born from a careful selection of Sangiovese grapes, in addition to a whopping 80% of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this wine is left to age for approximately 12 months in barriques, before aging for an additional year once bottled.

This bottle comes from private collections, restaurants, wine shops, or rare wines merchants. Before being put on sale, it has been carefully checked by the Tannico Team.
