Sannio Aglianico DOC “Janare” 2014 - La Guardiense: Why we like it

The "Janare" line by La Guardiense was created within the scope of a project to defend the autochthonous wines of Sannio, and is a range of selected wines aimed particularly at promoting Falanghina and Aglianico. An authentic attempt at zoning the Guardia Sanframondi territory, in the heart of the production zone, which focuses on enhancing the qualitative characteristics, linking them to the unrepeatable specificities of the cultivation locations. In the Sannio district, Janare are witches, mythical figures of country civilisation and culture which allude to the strong and indomitable character of the women of this land, capable of casting spells and fatal curses on their enemies. A tribute to preserve the memory of this old and seductive popular local tradition. Aglianico, in particular, is the product of careful selection in the vineyard and ageing in the cellar in oak tonneaux, the ideal barrels for ironing out the natural harshness. An elegant and decisive red, a reference for the whole appellation.
