Tasting Notes

This light straw-coloured white wine features a classic bouquet characterised by aromas of white flowers, apple, and white peach with a hint of hazelnut. Whereas in the mouth it is dry and achieves great balance between its acidity, full flavour and smoothness. It closes on a subtly bitter note.

Pairing

This wine makes for an excellent choice for Italian-style aperitivo and also pairs well with fresh cheeses, fish-based dishes and shellfish. It also makes for a great accompaniment to seared bell peppers seasoned with anchovies and salted capers.

Roero Arneis DOCG 2015 - Massucco: Why we like it

There are two hypotheses as to the origin of the name “Arneis”. One indicates, as some believe, that it derives from an old dialectal term used to refer to people of a sour or mean disposition or even to immoral people. Others believe that it was inspired by the Bric Renesio mountain across from the mouth of the town of Canale where it had already been cultivated since the 15th century.

Massucco’s Roero Arneis DOCG is produced from grapes that are left to macerate on lees in cold temperature and are then aged on lees in steel tanks with periodic batonnage. It is a classic Piedmont-style white wine whose fruity and mineral profile of aromas proves to be just as generous on the palate, with its fresh, full flavour, smoothness and slight acidity.
