Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red, with slight hints of soft purple highlights. Fruit dominates in the nose, initially revealing the impact of cherry and very ripe plum. This is joined by floral scents of violet which are well amalgamated with balsamic scents of eucalyptus and spicy black pepper. The tannin in the mouth is powerful, dissolving into a warm body with a persistent toasted finish.

Pairing

Served throughout a meal, it pairs well with stewed meats like rabbit and chicken, but is also excellent with medium-mature cheeses.

Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG “Pietraregia dell’Ammiraglia” 2015 - Frescobaldi: Why we like it

Tenuta dell'Ammiraglia is located in an area of outstanding potential for the production of high quality wines, and also of unquestionable natural beauty, charming and completely unspoilt. The winery is in Magliano in Tuscany, in the heart of Maremma, and its vineyards paint seductive geometries on the hills, reaching as far as the neighbouring Tyrrhenian Coast. The amount of sun and light in this area, reaches very high levels and, combining with sea breezes, creates particularly favourable conditions. The combination of all these factors conveys an exceptional variety and wealth of perfumes to the wines of Ammiraglia, unique in Maremma. Ammiraglia's Pietraregia is a smooth and enveloping Morellino di Scansano Riserva which made its debut in the international oenological panorama with the 2006 harvest. Complex and beautifully structured, it is distinguished by its enveloping nature and elegance, typical characteristics of the great red wines made in Maremma.
