Ruby red with purplish highlights, this wine is characterised by a slight sparkle and lively froth. Its bouquet is fragrant, unbridled and vinous, with numerous scents of red fruit. Lively on the palate, very crisp and smooth, with a good body.
Served with all courses of a meal, it is particularly good with cured meats and rich pasta dishes. Perfect with boiled, roast and braised meats, and with mixed grills.
Barbera del Monferrato Frizzante DOC “La Monella” 2016 - Braida di Giacomo Bologna: Why we like it
A great Monferrato classic, a sparkling red which owes its name to Giacomo Bologna's father. He was responsible for selected the most rebellious and exuberant barrel of Barbera in the cellar, which he called "La Monella" (roughly translatable into "the minx" in English) and which was recognisable by its characteristic and unrestrainable sparkle. Barbera del Monferrato Frizzante DOC “La Monella” di Braida di Giacomo Bologna is a wine which spends about four months in steel, undergoing prise de mousse in autoclaves, followed by about two months' bottle ageing. The result is a beautifully aromatic, fresh and fragrant red, with a marked gastronomical character, deliciously drinkable at dinner with friends.
